The most hard-hitting sensation you feel when you step out of the cinema hall after the movie is a queasy and disturbing feeling at the bottom of your tummy. Call it macabre fascination, call it reluctant appreciation for its stark canvas, call it a sadness.

For Arya, this is his biggest movie awaiting critical acclaim, finally seeing the light of day after 2+ years in the making. And for the work he has done for it, we wish him nothing but the very best.

Whatever the answer may be, Naan Kadavul is full of Bala’s signature style of movie-making – the combination of a deeply psychotic side of human nature, an inexplicable godliness in man, and even some mirth in the face of adversity. The flow of the movie is as weird as the concept and story, edited ably by Suresh Urs. The colours of the visuals, thanks to cinematographer Arthur Wilson, are as real as they can get. The music by Maestro Ilayaraja is typically melodious and melancholy. And the overall movie experience, unforgettable.

PM on the road to recovery, say doctors !!

The nation prayed for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as he underwent multiple bypasses on Saturday. It took a team of highly skilled surgeons a little over twelve hours to perform the operation.

In all five bypasses were carried out to take care of five blockages to restore normal flow of blood in the heart.

Now, initial medical reports suggest that the PM is stable and on the road to recovery. He will now be closely monitored in the ICU over the next two days.

“He’s at the ICU and conscious, he’s responding and very, very stable,” said one of the doctors.

Those were reassuring words for a nation eager to know about the Prime Minister’s health.

Just before he was taken to the operation theatre, the Prime Minister had told the doctors that ‘he was ready’.

“The PM was calm and tranquil; he was fairly assured while going into surgery that all will be well,” said a doctor.

Doctors said the length of the surgery was not due to any setbacks, but because it was Manmohan Singh’s second bypass.

Sri Lanka inflicted Pakistan’s heaviest defeat in a limited-overs international on Saturday, winning the final game by 234 runs to clinch the series 2-1.

Tillakaratne Dilshan’s unbeaten 137 off 139 balls took Sri Lanka to 309-5 before Nuwan Kulasekera claimed 3-17 and Thilan Thushara 3-33 to bowl out Pakistan in just 22.5 overs for its fourth-lowest total of 75.

Pakistan’s previous biggest defeat – in terms of runs – was a 224-run loss to Australia in 2002 at Nairobi, Kenya.

5 dead in Guwahati blasts !!

India once again have been a victim for terror on the day 1 of 2009 .Three bombs went off in the afternoon and early evening, just before Union Home Minister P Chidambaram landed in the city. Nearly 5 killed and 70 injured in this blast.So far no group has claimed responsibility for this evening’s blasts but police suspect the militant ULFA.

The first bomb went off at 3.30 in the afternoon in Birubari, a residential area close to the Assam Police Headquarters.The second explosion took place at a crowded market in the Bhootnath area close to the famous Kamakhya temple.An explosion took place next to the Big Bazaar outlet on the G S Road at Bhangagarh
